Saint of the Stables (2020), is a very important photo for me because it is one of the first photographs I ever took and it has paved the bricks for what excites me in my photographic practice. I was walking around my neighborhood in Amsterdam late in the evening to take pictures with this new camera I got from my friend. What I was always looking at then were things like cracks in the pavement, birds and animals in general, trees, odd shadows and contrasts. I came across a stable and it was very quiet. There was only one white horse under the street lamp. I took a picture of it and I walked off into other matters. When I developed the film (it was my first time developing on my own as well), I saw that the light had fractured in ways that turned the image into something that I feel was really there but it was not visible to me.
